Extinction Rebellion makes 3 demands:

1. TELL THE TRUTH – Declare a Climate and Ecological Emergency – working with institutions to communicate the urgency for change.

Government must tell the truth by declaring a climate and ecological emergency, working with other institutions to communicate the urgency for change. Many South Australians already agree that urgent action on the climate emergency is needed. It is time for governments to take the science seriously and communicate what science says we need to do to prevent catastrophe. It is time to stop pretending we can have a gas led recovery.

2. ACT NOW – Zero Emissions and halt bio-diversity loss by 2025.

Government must act now to halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025. Science has told us what we need to do, and we are running out of time. We need a carbon neutral, renewables driven recovery.

3. GO BEYOND POLITICS – Create binding Peoples Assemblies, advised by scientists and First Nations people, on Climate and ecological justice.

Government must create and be led by the decisions of a Citizens’ Assembly advised by scientists, First Nations People on climate and ecological justice.

The issue is as serious as the future of life on earth, but we will have fun communicating it! Wear your best disco outfit, sunscreen and a matching placard. Bring your friends, plenty of water, and a picnic if you like. If you’re up for dancing, rehearse at home!
